Interesting that they’ll give you a folding hard top, but no spare tyre in the name of weight savings.
Not saying they’re wrong, it’s just interesting how they prioritize.

yeah a spare tire in an NC is sort of a fitment issue. takes up a decent amount of space in the trunk. NAs & NBs have a well large enough to fit a spare with a flat floor above it for a nice looking trunk. I recently took the spare out of my NB because it has no way in hell of clearing my big brakes. hey, weight loss!

I wish the spare in NA’s fit with a flat floor, we have it bolted down similar to the area of the fuel filler hose, only on the right side of the trunk.

Probably the best $100 you can spend. http://www.dynaplug.com/index.html

My Camaro doesn’t have a spare since they’re equipped with shitty run flats. Pretty dumb considering they’re being replaced soon.
Who cares if it adds weight, who goes to the track or auto-x and leaves the spare in the car?

Welcome to the club!
My car does have a spare tire. It doesn’t have car jack though lol. Luckily I have the equivalent of AAA in Japan (JAF) and they even installed the spare for me at no cost whatsoever, an unlimited amount of time lol. It’s a great thing to have when you drive what is potentially the most unreliable japanese car ever created!

The EPA, squeeze out those mpgs. Also, Accountants probably care that it saves money. On modern cars spare tires appear to be cost options.

That doesn’t help a whole lot if the sidewall blows out or something. If you just had a small hole, you would likely be able to just run a compressor to re-fill the tire and be able to make it a few miles before it goes flat again. I like the idea of that thing but having a spare is of course better.

Hmm, didn’t know the NCs had no spare. That seems rather inconvenient. NA spare that takes up half the trunk is bad too. Happy that the NB trunk was designed a little better for that!

Luckily Finnish road network is still in pretty good condition. Out of my high number of cars only one has a spare tire + jack + tire iron combination that is in usable condition. My Packard has a complete set but due clearance issues only empty tire can be installed on the rear axle. From the rest some or all are missing.
I have been quite lucky and I have never changed a flat tire from my own cars. The only case when I have had to change a spare tire was during my military service when the truck that I was driving had a flat one.
Btw. That truck was awesome and it looked like this:

My Dart didn’t come with a spare and that was the first thing I bought for it.

Yea but tire inflator though right? My car only comes with that and I threw a Fix-a-Flat in the trunk for good measure, luckily I haven’t had to use either.

If it makes you feel any better my NA did come with a spare, but between being lowered and slight larger wheels the car drags on the ground when the spare is on so it is useless for me.

I need to find something to carry around in my trunk in case I get a flat. That or a AAA card.

For the record, every other car Mazda currently sells in the US has a spare, which is better than many other manufacturers.
